Here are the main factors to consider which cause cost variation:

Size & Material

The overall size of your piece can play a big factor in the cost. Did you know that sheet good come in 4'x8' pieces?  Making cabinets 16"D rather than 24" can save 30% on sheet goods!  Also specialty materials such certain hardwoods can easily double/triple the cost of a project!

Doors & Drawers

Did you know that the average drawer can cost 3-4x the cost of a door & a door twice the cost of an open shelf?  Drawers & doors typically take much longer to build than the actual cabinet. Drawer slide choice can make a significant change in a drawer cost

Stained vs Painted

I love the look of stain but did you know that staining a piece can add days to a project?  This is because staining involves multiple steps, specific materials & a fine eye for detail.

Custom finishes

Multi colors!  Stained & paint do look fabulous together.  Did you know that on average doing so can add 50% + to the material & labor cost of finishing pieces?  This is because pieces may need to be finished prior to constructing & require various steps to get that clean transition.
